Sistemele POS (Point of Sale - puncte de vanzare) sunt de fapt calculatoare puternice intr-o carcasa de aluminiu, adaptata cerintelor unor astfel de puncte de vanzare - sunt foarte fiabile, sunt rezistente la diverse conditii de mediu, ocupa un spatiu foarte mic, au cel putin 4 porturi seriale la care se pot conecta dispozitive specifice: imprimante fiscale, cititoare de coduri de bare, cititoare de carduri magnetice, display-uri client, sertare de bani. Se folosesc in restaurante, fast-food-uri, magazine, supermarket-uri, hipermarket-uri.
